Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.
But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.
Or,
Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.
He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.
Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.
Chapter Summary: Qui-Gon meets Obi-Wan at the Coruscant spaceport and the next chapter of both their lives begins.

As always, I am deeply grateful for all the love you’ve given this story, the outpouring of comments on the last chapter - the guessing on where the story is heading - makes me so very happy.
No update on the word count this week. I’m still plowing on with my SmutWars story. Damn thing is nearly 10k, and not nearly enough smut. Oh well.

That Sabacc Game
The centerpiece of Chapter 13 was the sabacc game between Quinlan and Watto in Jabba’s Palace. It’s not easy writing a dramatic card game. I forced myself to read Casino Royale, which didn’t help, since the flow of baccarat is much different than what I was trying to create for the scene between Watto and Quinlan, which is closer to power. For those who haven’t read the original novel, the game was not Texas Hold 'Em poker, which happened to be all the rage in 2007, when Daniel Craig made his debut as James Bond, but baccarat. And then there’s the confusing rules of sabacc itself. The game that Han and Lando play in Solo: A Star Wars Story is much different from the one that has been packaged and "taught" as part of the now-shuttered Galaxy’s Edge experience.
So I ended up with a sort of a mash-mash of poker and the "official" Galaxy’s Edge game and the game seen in the Solo movie.
Ultimately, I decided not to sweat it, since Watto was always going to lose, and lose badly. I just needed to create the right level of drama.
Yoda and Adi
In this timeline, Yoda is really such a trouble-maker. He’s a speed-demon and a wanna-be pod-racer who had little respect for his fellow Councilors authority.
Is this out of character? Probably, but it sets up a lot of Yoda’s subsequent behavior in the rest of the story. He does have a scene or two where he worries and warns about attachment but hey, it wouldn’t be a Star Wars story if Yoda didn’t do that.
As for the whole multiple masters thing. That’s a bit like the gun in a Chekov play, I kind of broke a dramatic rule there by mentioning it. It goes nowhere, almost. Yoda and Obi-Wan will have a fair bit of fun together.
Also, don’t forget about Obi-Wan’s immortal midi-chlorians.
Watto’s Fate
You’re all going to have to wait a good long while to find out what happens to this asshole.
Sorry, not.
Cyral and Ducca
Sigh, I love my Besalisk power couple.
They settle happily on Alderaan, doing forestry work, just like Cyral says in the current chapter. They meet the Queen. And live happily ever after. And show up in the final book of this story.
JSYK, Besalisks are actually cold weather creatures, which I did not know when I introduced Cyral back in Chapter 2.

I don’t want to get into the whole "descended from birds" bit. Birds on what world? Birds that sweat? sigh
Quinlan Vos
What a guy. Really. I’ve already talked about him extensively in an earlier meta, but I want to talk about him again. He might have come off like a bit of a shit in Book I, but he’s not. He has a mission and he wants to accomplish it.
Also, wearing gloves all the time on Tatooine has got to drive anyone crazy, right?
But rest assured, he really is a hero. And he comes roaring back in Book III, in Chapter 36 or so. Not quite to save the day, but to solve a few questions. And be a friend.
Rori and the Saja
As one commenter put it:
(Thank you, Lost_Noise)
The pairing of Rori and Edea is a nod to my dear friend and enabler, Kyele and her Norwegian Forest cat. Kyele has been such a fan of this story, and a bulwark against my inner gremlins of late. She had the good fortune to take the journey on Galaxy’s Edge, and has become a saja herself. She also wears saja beads I made for her as part of her cosplay :D
Obi-Wan and His Boots
I don’t love this picture (Ewan's hair is too over-product'd), but it does show off the very yummy boots. These are the boots that Obi-Wan has been dreaming about. Do you blame him?

I hope you’re enjoying the story and I look forward to your comments, both here if you’re Dreamwidth members and on AO3.

JSYK, Besalisks are actually cold weather creatures, which I did not know when I introduced Cyral back in Chapter 2.
Sadly, Besalisks are the subject of many misconceptions.
To begin with, while they are descended from birds, casual observers will frequently mistake them for a reptilian species. Whereas Besalisks have a skin pouch hanging from their chins that is similar to the ones often seen on both birds and reptiles, their thick, scaly skin is the source of the perception that they are members of the latter group, as are their toothy mouths and sharp-clawed hands.
Also, since they typically possess bulky, fleshy frames, Besalisks are sometimes viewed as gluttonous by other races, but in reality they store food and water in their bodies for weeks, allowing them to go for an extended period of time without eating or drinking. It is also common for Besalisks to sweat a great deal, giving the impression that they are nervous or in ill health. However, their bodies are merely accustomed to the frigid environment of Ojom and do not react well to warmer climates.

Rori and the Saja
As one commenter put it:
"I'm sorry but the Force picking a cat as its host for delivering a message to its Champion is the most in-character thing ever."
