When Neal ran, he thought his life in New York was lost. That everything he built, everything he made for himself was gone forever. He did have half of a blood-soaked treasure – it was a small consolation. And he had Moz - which made his flight into the unknown bearable.
He should have known better. Particularly when it was Peter Burke he left behind. Peter, beautiful, stalwart, loyal Peter - who put his safety and well-being above his career - hell, above his life, came looking for him – not to bring him home in chains, but to save his life.
The day Peter found him was bright and hot and pretty much like every other day in the paradise. But paradise wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. Yeah, there was endless pink sand beaches, beautiful women and no one pointing guns at him. But it was boring – he painted enough forgeries to fill a museum – and then some. Honestly - he missed the challenges that working with Peter and the Harvard Crew brought on a daily basis.
Hell, he even missed mortgage fraud.
Somehow, though - Peter wrought his own magic. He had the paperwork and a tracker, if Neal put that black hunk of plastic and technology back on, he could come home - no pain, no penalty. If he didn’t, the FBI was going to be gunning for him, and it would likely end in tears and a lifelong term in prison.
Peter was walking on the beach, admiring the ocean, the sunset and the pretty girls in their tiny bikinis, leaving Neal to make up his mind. But there really wasn’t much of a choice. Paradise - at least this one - was really another name for Hell.
It was time to go home.

Date: 2012-06-22 06:22 pm (UTC)I can't imagine Mozzie being happy in Paradise for very long, either. He and Neal would both be bored out of their minds within days.
