Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.

But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.

Or,

Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.

He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.

Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.

Chapter Summary: Obi-Wan's day starts with a meeting in the Galactic Senate Building and another encounter with Senator Palatine, who just happens to name-drop a member of Obi-Wan’s own lineage. But that’s not the most significant meeting of the day. He finally gets to meet his Grandmaster, Yan Dooku, again.

First impressions are everything.

Meta — Chapter33 - Again Our Feelings, Budding in Our Brains

As always, I am deeply grateful for all the love you’ve given this story, the outpouring of comments on the last chapter — the guessing on where the story is heading — makes me so very happy.

288,728 words, 52 chapters

I would bitch that I wrong only another measly 3000 words this week, but that’s not quite true. I wrote about 4k and then rewrote that 4k and about all of the 3k from the week before. It wasn’t just tone that was a problem, it was the whole damn plot and characterization that was off. It stank like my garbage in the middle of August wrinkles nose.

But after a whole lot of tugging and pulling and thinking the thinky thoughts, I got the damn words into shape. Finished the chapter, started the next one. Obi-Wan stopped whining and started making sense. Qui-Gon stopped sounding like the worst kind of AI.

And I stopped feeling like I’d lost my mojo, which was the worst feeling in the world, especially when I’m approaching 300k. And I still have no idea how much longer this is going to be. Seriously, I have the climactic scene in my head from a cinematographic POV, but have little clue about how we get there?

Anyways…

Are you all hating on Dooku now?

I hope not, though from the comments (I know I’m about two weeks behind on answering them, please forgive me) that you’re about to string him up by the mivvoncks (yes, that’s some Farscape slang thrown in). But please be patient.

Anakin doesn’t just get a most splendid apology from his Grandmaster, he’s going to get a bit of Jedi-approved vengeance, too. Courtesy of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Next week.

I do love the apology scene (and it makes me cry when I read it, even though I wrote it). It really shows the difference between original timeline Anakin, who could never forgive anyone for even the most inconsequential slight, and this Anakin, who has a great soul and knows how to both love and how to forgive those who are deserving of forgiveness.

Knight Arsu H’syan

WritestuffLee and I (my Alpha reader extraordinaire) have the habit of populating our fics with our friends (although Lee hasn’t made it into All the Spaces yet). Knight Arsu H’syan is an original Jedi character who was lent to me by the very much missed Temve, and some of the Q/O old guard may remember her publishing on the old Master/Apprentice list under Tem-ve H’syan.

In this story, Arsu is Jocasta Nu’s last (or latest) padawan. You should/might remember her from late in Book I, when she had accompanied civilian Anakin Skywalker to Tatooine when he procured Shmi Skywalker from Watto. Obi-Wan was precociously snarky to Arsu, but she was impressed by him (of course. Everyone is impressed by Obi-Wan.)

Temve, you are missed. But your great spirit lives on in Arsu.

Czerka Corporation

Czerka Corporation, a/ka/ Czerka Arms, is a "real" Star Wars entity. It featured prominently in the novel Master & Apprentice, but was originally created for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, and it has shown up in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, aligning with — you guessed it— the Sith.

As the plot of Master & Apprentice delves into, Czerka is an ancient corporate entity (although I’m not sure if it actually has a seat in the Galactic Senate), about 4000 years old. It relies heavily on slave labor, which is illegal within the Republic (I won’t repeat the plot of M&A here, you can either read the book or go to the Wookieepedia article).

And yes, the slug thrower rifle that Komari procured is the same one that Aurra Sing used, for you CW fans.
